Plain Layer Cake

1/2 c. butter 1-1/4 c. sugar 3 eggs 3 c. flour 5 tsp. baking powder 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla

Cream the butter, add the sugar gradually, beat the eggs well, and add to the mixture. Sift the flour and baking powder together and add alternately with the milk, adding milk first.
Add the vanilla, pour into layer-cake pans and bake. Ice with any kind of icing.
