Filled Cookies

(1-1/2 Dozen Cookies)

1 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1/2 c. milk 3 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vanilla

Cream the shortening and add the sugar gradually. Next add the beaten egg and the milk. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together and add to the mixture.
Add the vanilla. Roll very thin and cut into small round, square, or diamond shapes. Spread one cooky with the following filling, cover with a second, press the edges together, and bake in a quick oven.
