Cranberry Cheese Bread

2 c flour
1 c sugar
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
2 t orange peel, Grated
2 T shortening
1 orange, juice of orange
1 1/2 c cheddar cheese, shredded 6 oz
1 egg, beaten
1 c cranberries, halved
1/3 c walnuts, chopped

Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt & peel into a bowl. Cut in shortening.
Add water to juice to measure 3/4 cup; mix in with cheese & egg. Combine with flour mixture.
Stir in cranberries & nuts. Pour into greased 9x5x3 loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60- 70 minutes or until done. Cool, remove from pan, let loaf stand at least 8 hours before cutting.
