Cottage Pudding

(Serves Eight)

1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1 egg, well beaten 1 1/2 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla

Cream the butter, add the sugar, and beat the egg and add it. Sift the flour and baking powder together and add alternately with the milk.
Add the vanilla. Bake in a loaf-cake pan and serve hot with lemon, fruit, or chocolate sauce.
