Cheese Bread

2 c flour
1/4 c sugar
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 egg, separated
1 c buttermilk
1 c cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 c onion, chopped
1 T butter

Sift together dryingredients.
Add beaten egg yolk & milk. Quickly fold in stiffly beaten egg white & cheese. Pour into greased loaf pan or round 9" casserole. Saute onion in butter. Spread top with onion mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes or until top is golden.
