Hell and High Water
1954
Prof. Montel: Each man has his own reasons for living, Mr Jones, and his own price for dying.
Captain Adam Jones: The last time I tailed a freighter, my price was 650 a month, and I had to buy my own uniforms.
Captain Adam Jones: Look, uh, look before we go any further... exactly what country do you men represent? Prof. Montel: We represent many countries... as private individuals. We are scientists, former statesmen, businessmen. All volunteers. Acting independently for a common cause. Against a common enemy.
(Capt Jones is forced to sail before his submarine is fully ready for sea) Captain Adam Jones: What about the "running dive test"? Prof. Montel: As an amateur, might I suggest that we try the "running test" *while* we are running? Captain Adam Jones: Doctor, out of over a hundred ways of losing a submarine, *you've* just come up with one of the *best*! We haven't even checked the torpedo tubes yet! You know what that means if we have to call on fish? *It means we're dead!
Hakada Fujimori: I am sorry to tell you, your friend is dead. Captain Adam Jones: Dead... ? Hakada Fujimori: His plane crashed returning from an Arctic expedition. No-one survived. Captain Adam Jones: (sadly) He never *did* like to fly!
