Flight 90: Disaster on the Potomac
1984 (TV)
First Officer Roger Pettit: This is it. This is a losing battle trying to de-ice these things. It gives you a false feeling of security, that's all it does. Captain Larry Wheaton: Yeah, but it satisfies the Feds.
(referring to Nikki's blue swimsuit) David Frank: The rising executive's all-purpose wardrobe. Ideal for staff meetings, impressing the clients...
Marilyn Nichols: You're here before me? I don't believe it! Donna Adams: The first time and probably the last! I can't explain it. It was like any other morning. I figured to be late as usual. But I got a clean road right away, the car turned on immediately, and there was no back of traffic. It's an unusual day.
(Marilyn has the glow of a pregnant woman) Donna Adams: So, are you? Marilyn Nichols: Am I what? Donna Adams: Didn't you get the results from the tests back *yesterday*? (pause) Donna Adams: So, are you? Marilyn Nichols: (big smile on her face) Of course! (the two women laugh and hug)
Donna Olian: (answers the phone at work) Naval recruitment? Roger Olian: Welfare. Go home. Donna Olian: (smiles) Is that an order? Roger Olian: Yeah, because if you don't get moving out, the way it's coming down, you may get snowed in. Donna Olian: And saved by 200 able-bodied seamen? Roger Olian: Of course, if that appeals to you. Donna Olian: (chuckles) I'm on my way. What about you? Roger Olian: First, I've got to exercise. Donna Olian: (rolls her eyes) Goodbye, Roger.
Marilyn Nichols: (referring to Priscilla's baby) How old is he? Priscilla Tirado: Nine weeks. Marilyn Nichols: He's beautiful! Give me a call if you need anything. Jose Tirado: Okay. Priscilla Tirado: Thanks. Jose Tirado: (after Marilyn leaves) Nice person. Priscilla Tirado: I bet she's pregnant. Or hope she is. Jose Tirado: And how do you know that? Priscilla Tirado: Just do. When you've been a mother as long as I have, you just know these things!
(fatal take-off scene) Washington Air Traffic Controller: Palm 90, cleared for take-off. Captain Larry Wheaton: Palm 90, cleared for take-off. Washington Air Traffic Controller: No delay on departure if you will. Traffic's two and a half out for the runway. Captain Larry Wheaton: Okay. First Officer Roger Pettit: (referring to the engine gauges) God! Look at that thing. That doesn't seem right does it? Ah, that's not right! Captain Larry Wheaton: Yeah it is. (referring to the airspeed indicator) There's 80. First Officer Roger Pettit: Nah, I don't think that's right. (pause) Maybe it is. Captain Larry Wheaton: 120! First Officer Roger Pettit: I don't know! Captain Larry Wheaton: V1! Easy! V2! (the stickshaker starts) Captain Larry Wheaton: (yelling) Forward! Forward! We only need 500! Come on! Come on! Just barely climb! First Officer Roger Pettit: (struggling with the controls) Come on, baby! Come on! (pause) Larry! We're going down! Captain Larry Wheaton: I know it. (crash)
